Ealing Trailfinders complete a perfect unbeaten league season in Champ Rugby

Perfect seasons are rare in any sport, but Ealing Trailfinders achieved one in 2025/26. The west London rugby club won every one of its 26 league games in Champ Rugby, the second tier of English rugby union, to finish top of the table by a huge margin.

The numbers are remarkable. Ealing scored 1,125 points and conceded 437, a points difference of 688, and collected 127 league points, 30 more than second placed Bedford Blues. The club completed its unbeaten league campaign with a 52 to 14 win over Bedford.

Topping the table earned Ealing a home semi final in the play offs, at the end of a season in which they were once again the side to beat in the division.

The season was led on the field by club captain Angus Kernohan, who joined Ealing in 2020 and co captained the team to its third Championship title the previous season alongside Ollie Newman. Mike Willemse, who joined from London Irish in 2023, and Jordy Reid, in his second spell at the club, served as vice captains.

"I'm delighted to be captain again this year," Kernohan said at the start of the season. "This is a great club which I'm proud to represent and hopeful for another successful season." Director of rugby Ben Ward praised the leadership group, saying Kernohan and Newman "did a brilliant job" the year before.

Ealing play their home games at the Trailfinders Sports Ground in West Ealing, which holds 5,000 spectators, including more than 2,000 seats. The club also runs a women's side, an academy and a foundation, making it a hub for rugby in west London well beyond the first team.

For local fans, a Saturday afternoon at the Trailfinders Sports Ground offers top quality rugby in a friendly, community setting, and after a season like this one there has rarely been a better time to go along and see what the fuss is about.

Ealing Trailfinders play at the Trailfinders Sports Ground, Vallis Way, West Ealing, W13. For fixtures, tickets and junior rugby, visit ealingtrailfinders.com.
