Chingford, on the edge of Epping Forest, now has a restaurant that people cross London for. Gina, the chophouse opened by pastry chef Ravneet Gill and her husband, chef Mattie Taiano, was named one of London's new Michelin Bib Gourmands in February 2026, less than a year after it opened.

Gina sits at 92 Station Road, right next to Chingford station at the end of the line from Liverpool Street. It opened fully on 12 June 2025 after months of renovation and recipe testing.

The couple bring a wealth of London kitchen experience. Ravneet, known to many as a judge on Junior Bake Off, has written three cookbooks and worked at St John and Black Axe Mangal. Mattie has cooked at The Camberwell Arms, Som Saa and Franks. At Gina, Ravneet looks after the desserts.

The menu is built around carefully sourced meat and fish, with daily cuts of meat chalked up on a blackboard. Opening dishes included monkfish with bacon and oak leaf, violet aubergine caponata with cecina and salted ricotta, and a spit roast chicken with Caesar salad and chips for two. Sunday lunch brings pork shoulder and braised lamb shoulder.

Time Out gave the restaurant five stars in October 2025. Reviewer Samantha Willis praised the Highland beef rump with café de Paris butter and triple cooked chips, "Gina's Pasta", a spaghetti marinara, and a pecan tart, describing the feel as somewhere between an authentic Italian and a modern British bistro. Ravi's chocolate cake has become something of a signature.

There is a considered wine list and a pair of signature cocktails, including Gina's Martini. Time Out's tip is to come on a Sunday for the slow braised lamb and then walk it off at Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge nearby.

The Michelin recognition, which marks restaurants offering excellent value for the quality of their cooking, puts Gina among a strong crop of neighbourhood places honoured across London this year.
