Tamila on Northcote Road in Clapham earns a Michelin Bib Gourmand

Northcote Road has plenty of places to eat, but Tamila has quickly become one of its most talked about. The South Indian restaurant at number 39 was named among London's new Michelin Bib Gourmands in February 2026.
Tamila is the work of Glen Leeson, formerly general manager at Market Halls, and Prince Durairaj, formerly executive head chef at Roti King, who is co founder and executive chef. Their stated aim is simple: to redefine the curry house.
The idea has been a long time coming. Tamila began as a street food concept at the Hackney Bridge development in 2021. The team then moved into pubs, opening The Tamil Prince in 2022 and The Tamil Crown in late 2023, both in Islington. Leeson has said that "Tamila is something we wanted to do from the beginning."
The Clapham restaurant opened in autumn 2024 in the former home of vegan restaurant VE Kitchen. The menu draws on South Indian heritage, with dishes from Tamil Nadu and across the subcontinent. It is short and focused, built around flaky roti, curries and tandoor specials, and reviewers have singled out the chicken lollipops, onion bhaji and dosas.
The drinks list has its own personality, with cocktails including a Gunpowder Margarita, a Tamil Negroni and a Charcoal Old Fashioned, plus a house Tamila lager and draught wine.
The Nudge describes it as "a simple and casual restaurant", with a few tables, a couple of booths and paintings on the walls, and that relaxed approach is part of the appeal. The Bib Gourmand recognises restaurants offering excellent value for the quality of their cooking, and Tamila sits alongside a strong group of neighbourhood favourites honoured this year.
Hot Dinners noted that the award went to the team's growing Tamila family, which now also includes a second site in King's Cross, but Northcote Road is where the restaurant first found its home.
Tamila is at 39 Northcote Road, SW11 1NJ, a short walk from Clapham Junction. To see menus and book, visit tamila.uk.
